Scottsdale Cooking Club | Favorite BBQ Recipe

0

I am back with another post about food!!! Being 6 months pregnant, our cooking club is about my favorite thing right now. I can’t think of anything I would rather be doing than hanging out with a group of fun women and eating tons of delicious food.

This months theme was favorite BBQ recipe, which basically meant that we were to bring something that you would typically bring to a BBQ with friends. Our group was small this week, but the food was still impressive!! We had some delicious dips, a few salads that I have never had before, and some appetizers.

Choosing a favorite recipe is usually difficult for me (because I love food so much), but this month I definitely had a favorite.

Bacon Wrapped Dates!!

Oh my heavens, these things were good! I somehow was able to go back twice to add more to my plate without anyone taking notice. Guilty! I have never tasted such a delicious combo before. The sweet and savory was perfect, and this is coming from someone who rarely eats bacon. The next morning I was telling my mom all about the delicious food and she said bacon wrapped dates were a popular holiday appetizer when she was a kid. I can not believe she never made them a part of my childhood, since she obviously remembers them with fond memories. I am thinking that these things will definitely be making it to my holiday parties this year.

Another dish that really stood out to me was the Orzo Salad with dried fruit and pecans. I have never seen nor tasted orzo before. (Probably another secret my Mom never wanted to tell me about, thanks Mom!) It is a rice shaped pasta, so it is basically like eating a pasta salad. I also went back for seconds of this delicious dish. The little bits of fruit are so refreshing, and the pomegranate vinaigrette was a great final touch.

After a fun night with the girls, and a fully belly, I drove home just thinking about all the reasons why I love being a part of a cooking club. I not only learn new recipes and get to try new foods, but I have made some great new friends, learned some great tips about parenting, and love that I get to enjoy a night to myself once a month to get away from our normal routine. I would encourage you, if you have never been a part of a cooking club, think about starting one up! If you can gather a small handful of girls who love to cook and hang out, you can start yourself a cooking club. For more tips on how to start a cooking club, go here!

Can’t wait to bring you more great recipes next month!
