Healthy Smoothies for Athletic Kids

Any sport moms or after school activity parent knows how crazy an afternoon can get between school pickup and multiple sport drop offs. Throw dinner, homework, and multiple kids in the mix and it can be very overwhelming. One thing I struggled with was getting a good snack for my kids after school and before they leave for their activity. Sometimes we only have 15-20 minutes from school to the activity that I need to have a quick, filling, and on the go snack for my children. I found these two smoothies are very filling, protein packed and high in fat to help continue their energy and fullness.

Healthy Smoothies for Athletic Kids

Chocolate Protein Shake smoothie

  • ½ cup full fat cottage cheese
  • 1 Chocolate protein shake (we use Fairlife protein shake from Costco. Chocolate milk could also work.)

Add both ingredients into blender along with a few ice cubes. Blend until smooth.

These taste just like a Wendys frosty! SO good. High in protein and fat.

Fruit Smoothie

  • ½ banana
  • 3-4 Strawberries sliced
  • 1 small avocado
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (full fat)
  • Whole milk

Add all ingredients into the blender. I add the milk last and fill to cover fruit. You may need to eyeball it depending on how thick you want the smoothie. Blend until smooth.

I love this smoothie because it’s a good way to add a vegetable with healthy fat into it. You cannot taste the avocado which makes it even better to add in.

These smoothies help hold my kids over during their long practices and before a later dinner on those busy nights.
