jell-o

My daughter recently discovered Jell-o from a friend at school and has been asking for me to buy some. Immediately the thought of Jell-o Jigglers popped into my head. I am sure we all remember the commercials as kids as the actor held these cool shaped pieces of Jell-o in the air and ate them. So, after some research on good old Pinterest, I found these cool Jell-o Jiggler recipes that would be great for the fourth of July!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 boxes (3 oz each) of Jell-O. One Red, One Blue
  • 2 cups of boiling water

TOOLS:

  • 2 9×13 pans, one for each color
  • A whisk
  • Cooking spray
  • Toothpicks
  • Cookie cutters (I used stars for the 4th)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Spray each pan with cooking spray to keep Jell-O from sticking
  • Wipe the spray with a paper towel
  • Boil 2 cups of water
  • Pour the water into a bowl and add Jell-o mix (remember to do separate bowls for each color)
  • Whisk until all powder is dissolved
  • Pour liquid into the cooking pans
  • Use toothpicks to pop any bubbles that may have formed
  • Place the Jell-O into the refrigerator for at least 3 hours
  • Once Jell-O is firm pull it out and stamp out your shapes using the cookie cutters

I laid out both the red and blue stars on a tray and topped with whipped cream to make a beautiful Red, White, and Blue Fourth of July snack for the kids!

EXPERT TIPS:

  • Keep your water to Jell-O ratio 1:1. Every 1 box of Jell-O, use one cup of boiling water. The box will give different directions.
  • Place cooking pan in the sink with one to two inches of warm water before cutting out the shapes. It will help to keep Jell-O from sticking to pan.
