Happy Friday! I’m Jenny, and I’m the latest SMB Contributor to participate in the Friday Favorites series. In case you missed the last few, this is where we contributors talk about a few of our favorite products, places, recipes, etc. The series has no boundaries, which is the best part about it because who doesn’t love receiving recommendations for awesome things you might be missing out on. Feel free to click back and check out Rudri and Marissa’s favorites as well. Here are a few of my favorites right now:
Puddle Jumper: Now that pool season has arrived, I feel it is totally acceptable to publicly confess my love for the person who invented the Puddle Jumper. For those of you who have small children and don’t have a clue what I’m talking about, think old school pool floaties combined with a noddle around the front of your kid’s chest. The device holds them up like the floaties, and the foamy piece on the front makes it so your child can’t get stuck face-down in the water. I used one with my son before he learned to swim and now my almost 2 year old daughter is in love with her “jumper”. Obviously, no flotation device is a replacement for parental supervision, but it sure makes pool days with independent toddlers much more enjoyable. You can find a Puddle Jumper on Amazon or at stores all over town like Walmart and Target.
ThinkBaby Sunscreen: I’ve been looking for a good kid’s sunscreen for ages and I’ve finally found a winner. My kids have sensitive skin so many of the mainstream brands caused eczema, and other mineral sunscreens were either super oily or made me feel like I was painting their little bodies with white tar. ThinkBaby rubs in much better than the other brands I’ve tried and smells AH-MAZING. Plus the Environmental Working Group rated it a 1 for containing a low amount of potentially hazardous materials. I’ve been using it on my kids for a couple weeks and so far, no eczema and no burns.
Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter: About a year ago, I would have told you I hate peanut butter (Reese’s Peanut Butter cups excluded). Then one day, I grabbed a Starbucks Protein Box on a whim and was introduced to the wonderful world of Justin’s Peanut Butter. This stuff is delicious and I’ve caught myself eating specific items just so I can dip them in peanut butter. The company makes a whole line of products, including almond butter and organic white chocolate peanut butter cups. Yes, they are as delicious as they sound. I’ve seen Justin’s sold at a number of places locally such as Sprouts and Target.
Skinny Bell Pepper “Nachos”: My husband and I are always looking for delicious low-carb recipes and this skinny bell pepper nacho recipe has been a serious winner in our house. I initially found it on Pinterest and I’m slightly embarrassed by the number of times we’ve had this for dinner over the last couple months. I typically cut my peppers into triangles instead of boats like the recipe calls for, cook as described, and then add green onions, tomatoes, jalapenos and avocado as toppings. So good.
Tassels: I’m a wanna-be fashion blogger in my spare time so I’m always keeping my eye on fashion trends. One of my absolute favorite trends for this spring and summer is tassels. I’m seeing them on everything this year – shirts, shorts, scarves, shoes, jewelry. I just can’t get enough! To me, tassels are the perfect pop to make any outfit a tad bit more fun.
Rosé Wine: Last summer, my family spent a month in New York City and I was surprised to learn rosé wine (yes, the pink stuff) was trendy on the East Coast. I used to think pink wine was what broke college students drank out of a box (please, tell me I wasn’t the only one?). However, rosé is almost like a mix between a red and a white wine and served cold – perfect for sipping this summer after the kiddos are in bed. Not every restaurant locally carries rosé, but when they do, I’ve been mixing up my typical Pinot Grigio order and going for the rosé. One of my favorites I’ve started buying for home is La Vieille Ferme Rosé (look for a chicken on the label) which I’ve found on sale for $8.99 at Sprouts and Albertsons.
There you have it, the most random list of my favorite things right now: a pool flotation device, kids sunscreen, pepper nachos, peanut butter, tassels and pink wine. Have you tried any of these and agree or disagree with my recommendations?
Super cute post. Really glad you shared about the puddle jumpers! And I’m loving tassles too. Michael’s had some in their dollar spot, I brought a few.
