As Car Seat Safety Week comes to a close, we here at SMB wanted to take the time to review the #1-rated infant car seat from the Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System. With so many different strollers AND so many parents using the wrong carseat (see the info-graphic below), choosing a travel system can be a challenging purchase to navigate!
I have been looking for a stroller replacement for quite some time and had know idea where to put my money! Enter Chicco’s ever-popular Cortina Travel System! When they offered me the chance to test it out, I was excited see what new comforts and style Chicco had to offer. When the box arrived at the door, K-man wanted it opened and put together right away! Now in our house, any type of assembly is “Daddy Duty”. I tried to explain to K-man that I wanted nothing to do with this always- too- complicated- task, but of course, he insisted. I opened the box expecting it to be ridiculously full of parts, but to my surprise. it didn’t look like it was going to be “Daddy Duty” after all. I read the instructions and within ten minutes, K-man had a new ride!
He wanted in right away (please take note of the picture below!); then, I couldn’t get him out of the stroller because he had never experienced his seat being able to recline. The fabric was comfortable and he was ready to go. We strolled around for 45 minutes while he drank his baba and ate his snacks in style! I had turned into a stroller-driver for the day and my dog decided she wanted to go along for the ride too.
It’s true, I still have K-man rear facing and I’d like to keep it that way for awhile longer. The car seat that comes with the Chicco Cortina Travel System is top rated and K-man is able to use it since he is within the weight limits. This seat goes up to 30lbs and I love a good deal, so being able to use a car seat from infancy to toddlerhood is a score!
Since those first weeks of using the Cortina Travel System, we are still digging the car seat and we were able to take the stroller on vacation with us a couple weeks ago. It’s a cinch to pop open and we took advantage of the large storage basket. We were able to fit the stroller in the trunk with all of our luggage and it was simple checking it at the airport gate. We used it to stroll around Seattle and K-man appreciated that his favorite ride was able to come with us.
I love that K-man asks to go for rides in his stroller. At his toddler age, I would rather him want to be in his stroller than running after him through the store. I also love that the car seat is rated #1. I breathe a little easier knowing K-man is safe.
If I had one wish, it would be that the stroller was a little less chunky. I know that it’s hard to create a Travel System that is light and takes up less room but that would be a dream come true!
Thanks again to Chicco for sponsoring this post.
