Top 10 stories for 3rd graders and up!
As we approach the upcoming holidays of Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa, one of the best investments you can give to a child is a new book. A real book, one with a cover, pages, and words! No hand-held electronic learning devices can compete with the precious moments when an adult reads to a child (or when a child reads to an adult).
As a mother to four children, I have had plenty of time (and experience!) to refine our list of favorite children’s books. I have been surrounded by many boys, so many of my reading choices are based on what my boys read – listed with blue numbers. However, I have also included several wonderful titles for girls – listed with pink numbers! These books are what we have found make some of the best holiday gifts for those in the 3rd grade and up.

This is a peek at one of my bookshelves at home, filled to the brim with children’s books. It’s one of the perks of homeschooling – my family has invested a great deal in reading together.
