The heat this summer was incredible. Record breaking, absolutely numbing heat. Our family has lived in Arizona for twelve years, and after this heat we desperately needed a get away. I called The Pines Motel, our favorite family friendly destination in Cottonwood and we packed our bags!
This is the second time I have stayed in the Grand Suite at The Pines Motel and I was so excited to show this charming place to my family! As soon as we arrived, my husband could not believe how beautiful and perfect the suite is for a family as large as ours! We each (all seven of us) had our own bed and plenty of space.
We are still being very cautious with crowds and restaurants, so we just ordered take out and ate in the spacious kitchen. We had an entire weekend planned, but on Friday night I got the sweetest call ever. Were we available to foster a little baby girl? I jumped in the car early Saturday morning to head back to Scottsdale, while the rest of the family enjoyed!
Brian took the kids to the Out of Africa Wildlife Park and they had an incredible time! Sebastian (3) is still talking about the giraffes!
Brian took everyone to The Black Bear Diner for dinner. He loved the comfort food and the staff was fantastic with the kids. They followed all guidelines – masks, etc. – and everyone was very spread out. It was the first time the kids had eaten in a restaurant since March, so it was a pretty big day! Apparently the cheese fries were a huge hit!
I am hoping to squeeze in one more getaway before the holidays. Cottonwood has so many beautiful trails and is so close to Sedona, Jerome, and Montezuma’s Castle. I love how close it is and how you really feel like you’ve gotten away for a little bit!
