I am SO excited to announce that we are adding something new to the next Mom’s Night Out event on May 10th at the Ice Den. WHAT?! You don’t have your tickets yet?? Well chop chop! http://momsnightoutarizona.eventbrite.com/.
So what’s new? Scottsdale Moms Blog is partnering with an amazing charity called Mom’s Place. Why? Because it just make sense – supporting moms is what we do and now you can get in on the fun.
We picked Mom’s Place for a lot of reasons, but the main one is that they aren’t a hand out to parents, they are a hand up. This mom centered organization is aimed at helping young mother’s learn how to ask for help and how to be their own advocate when it comes to getting that help. They do so by meeting weekly with the young mothers that they serve to share a meal and then break into classes about Parenting skills, Sex Education, Healthy Relationships, Recovery from Abuse, How to Discipline with Love, Bible Studies, First Aid and Health Care. Mom’s Place also provides emergency housing, transportation, advocacy, health care needs and assistance with continuing education.
To support Mom’s Place, we are asking that all guests of Mom’s Night Out bring one of two things: a bag of diapers OR a bottle of baby wash. That’s it! Drop them at the door as you check in. In addition to a fun night, you’ll get the satisfaction of knowing that you made a difference for another mom.
Mom’s Place truly embodies the idea that if you give a man a fish, he eats for a day, but if you teach a man to fish, he never goes hungry. They are giving women the tools they need to be successful in the long term AND teach their children the same invaluable tools. All of us at Scottsdale Moms Blog are excited to give back to such a great organization!
