In Between.

Tonight she asked if we could look through our picture trunk. Literally, it is a trunk full of photos.  Someday, something crazy might come over me and I’ll organize them, or scrapbook put them in an album.  But for now, the trunk suits me just fine.

She sat for hours just looking through pictures and laughing and asking questions.  A little while later she commented, “I wish I was still a little baby. I just want to be that little girl in the pictures again, in the stroller going to the zoo.”

Tears pricked at my eyes as I looked at this little girl, who is anything but little.  Yesterday, as we played at the Scottsdale Quarter splash pad, I wondered if she’ll be able to even do that next year…  Or will the little “in between” stage we’ve been in for some time have given way to the out right “too cool for school” stage I know is inevitable.

It’s only a matter of time.

Navigating this season of her life and looking to what’s ahead has me feeling a little uneasy.  I need all the help I can get.  So, it goes without saying that I was thrilled when a mom from her school shared this event with me.

This Friday, Scottsdale Bible Church is hosting Secret Keeper Girl: Pajama Party.  A mother-daughter event that tackles some of the toughest girl subjects we will face.  I am excited that there is help out there and can’t wait to spend an evening with my girl.

Do you have a teen, or a tween? What is your number one piece of advice for moms with little girls?  Do tell.
