Spring is here which means outdoor activities for us Arizona residents. This season offers countless opportunities to connect with the family and nature. Here are some springtime activities our family loves to do to make the most of this Spring season:
1. Family Picnics in the Park:
Pack a picnic basket with homemade sandwiches, fresh fruit, and snacks, and head to your favorite local park for a leisurely outdoor feast. Spread out a blanket, bask in the sunshine, and enjoy quality time with your family amidst nature’s splendor. My kids love visiting parks with ponds were they can watch the ducks and see the people fishing.
2. Spring Cleaning and Decluttering:
Channel your inner Marie Kondo and embark on a spring cleaning and decluttering spree. Get the whole family involved by assigning age-appropriate tasks and turning chores into a fun game. Clearing out the clutter will not only create a more organized and serene home but also allow you to see what you’re kids have outgrown and can be donated.
3. Gardening Adventures:
Whether you have a sprawling backyard or a cozy balcony, gardening is a wonderful way to connect with nature and teach your kids about the joys of growth and nurturing. Plant a vegetable garden, cultivate a flower bed, or simply pot some herbs or succulents together.
4. Nature Walks and Hikes:
Explore the great outdoors with your family by going for nature walks and hikes in nearby parks or nature reserves. Take the time to admire the blooming flowers, listen to the birds singing, and breathe in the fresh spring air. It’s a rejuvenating experience for both body and soul and gets the kids out for some sunshine.
5. Spring Crafting and DIY Projects:
Get creative with your kids by engaging in spring-themed crafting and DIY projects. Home Depot hosts a free DIY event every first Saturday of the month (make sure to register beforehand). They provide all material needed and offer demonstrations for the little ones.
6. Seasonal Cooking and Baking:
Take advantage of the abundance of fresh produce available in spring by experimenting with seasonal recipes and baking projects. Whip up colorful salads with crisp greens and juicy strawberries, or try your hand at baking fruity pies and tarts using seasonal fruits like rhubarb and cherries. Get your kids involved in the kitchen and make cooking a fun and educational experience.
8. Springtime Markets:
Spring in Arizona is the best time to attend local markets and outdoor events. Restaurants with patio seating are my jam during the spring one of my families favorite is At the Farm in South Phoenix. They have an amazing farm to table concept and lots of running space for the kids which I love.
