Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ), the state’s only nonprofit that delivers free support services, programming, and resources to individuals impacted by any cancer at any stage, will host its 18th annual Porch Party Gala on Saturday, Nov. 6, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at its Palm Lane headquarters in Phoenix.
The fundraising event, presented by Plexus Worldwide, will be held outdoors and will feature a “Hot Havana Nights” theme. Guests can enjoy a rum and whiskey bar; mojitos; poker, roulette and blackjack tables; a live and silent auction; and live entertainment from Jaleo Latin Music. Emmy-Award winning broadcaster Kathleen Mascareñas will emcee the event.
“We expect Porch Party to sell out at 300 people and for the event to raise much needed financial support for our programs and services,” said Debbie DiCarlo, CEO of Cancer Support Community Arizona.
For the last 22 years, CSCAZ has provided emotional and social support for anyone impacted by cancer. CSCAZ offers more than 100 programs per month that include support groups, social activities, mind/body therapies, nutritional counseling and educational seminars. All programs are offered free of charge to anyone impacted by cancer and designed to support cancer patients, their families and caregivers throughout their cancer journey.
At this year’s gala, CSCAZ will honor Dr. David Paul, Dr. Debra Wickman, and Banner University Medical Center Phoenix with its Spirit of Healing Award. The award recognizes a CSCAZ individual or partner who makes a daily difference in the lives of people and families affected by cancer.
“We have the perfect triangle of individuals and entities being honored at this year’s Porch Party Gala,” said DiCarlo. “Dr. Paul has been an instrumental ally in providing oncology support services to CSCAZ since we opened our doors more than 20 years ago. Dr. Wickman exemplifies that patient care does not end with cancer clinical treatment but can extend into gynecological health during treatment and through survivorship. And Banner University Medical Center Phoenix has been CSCAZ’s Hospital Business Partner for the past 15 years. The relationships we have with this well-respected oncology team, gynecological care provider, and medical center allows us to provide cancer patients and their families with the tools they need to restore a quality of life that would not exist otherwise without their help.”
