Fireworks, Food and Fun! 4th of July in Scottsdale and Surrounding Areas

Let’s Celebrate Independence Day!

The 4th of July has always been one of my favorite holidays! I love that it is a time to gather with family and friends, but in a more laid back style rather than the hustle of the winter holiday season.

Where concessions are not available, load up the cooler and some lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy a picnic. Check out this past post from Scottsdale Moms for some inspiration to elevate your picnic from the standard sandwich route.

Here is a list of valley celebrations and fireworks. Note: all of these events are having fireworks after dark, many you may be able to see from homes or parks in the area for free, but in order to get into the actual park/event where the fireworks take place, some require a ticket purchase.

Hope you and your family have a safe and happy holiday!
(Not all events listed will take place on Monday, July 4th, check the websites!)

Perhaps you are planning on having your own fireworks show with your neighbors. Here are just a few tips to keep in mind to keep not only the people but the environment and the neighborhood safe.

  • Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.
  • Never try to re-light or pick-up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
  • Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishap.
  • Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them.
  • Light fireworks one at a time and then move back quickly.
  • Keep your pets inside; fireworks are quite terrifying for animals.

These tips and more can be found here on the City of Phoenix website. For information that pertains to City of Scottsdale fireworks rules and regulations, please click here.

Here at Scottsdale Moms, we wish you and your family a very happy and safe 4th of July celebration. Stay well hydrated out there in our famous heat!

Easy Summer Dinners – Minimal Effort Required

It was a very busy day and when dinner time rolled around I was pretty much over the whole thing.  I surveyed what I had in my fridge, freezer and pantry and felt very uninspired.  What I ended up serving for dinner was avocado toast and hard boiled eggs.  Then I did what any normal person would do, […]

Try Some Poptails This Summer

Poptails to the rescue! If you parent children through an Arizona summer, these three statements are big facts: It is ridiculously hot. You have a bunch of popsicles in your freezer. Everyone in the family is at a daily risk of going a little stir crazy. But there is a single and simple solution to […]

Avocado Toast Served Four Ways

If you’re around my husband, please try to avoid the subject of avocado toast. It’s very triggering for him because he’s the one who actually invented avocado toast when he was around 8 years old. Now “they” have stolen his idea and nobody has given him any credit. Everybody just goes around eating A.T. at […]

All About The Dinner Bowls

Dinner Bowls are my jam lately. They might take a little extra work on the front end, but they provide some healthy, well-rounded dinner options, usually WITH leftovers. If you have picky eaters like I do, bowls can allow you to break down the ingredients and serve your kids what they will eat, along with what […]

The Appliance that Changed My life

My sister turned me on to Instant Pot several years ago. She had purchased one to give away as a Christmas gift, but ended up keeping it. 24 hours later I received a phone call telling me I had to order one of these amazing appliances right away. People always ask its worth buying one, […]

Creamy Broccoli Avocado Soup; Light & Fresh Summer Soup

I know what you’re thinking.  “Soup in the summer? Jennie, you’re crazy!”  I know, I know.  But trust me that this creamy broccoli avocado soup is so light and fresh that it’s actually perfect for summer.  Bonus points are given because it’s also delicious served chilled.    Broccoli Avocado soup is great for most dietary […]

Watermelon Slushie {A Win for Every Member of the Family}

One of my kids favorite summer treats is a watermelon slushie. It is so easy to make and super healthy.  Here are the steps so you can make a pitcher for your family. Cut up a watermelon and freeze in a gallon size Ziploc bag. After the watermelon has frozen overnight, blend until smooth in […]

3 Ways to Avoid Using your Oven in the Summer

It’s juuuuusssst about summer time here in AZ. This means hibernating inside watching movies and coloring a million pictures. It means venturing outside into only 1) an air conditioned car or 2) a refreshing pool. And it means avoiding turning on your oven at all costs. Seriously, I avoid that thing like the plague for […]
