Shine Your Light is a brand new, local company that we are excited to introduce you to. The family-run, kid-owned business, was created for children to help teach positivity, self-esteem and confidence.
The tools include a collection of beautifully illustrated affirmation cards available in both English and Spanish, and My Feelings Matter Conversation Starter cards.
The affirmation cards feature a diverse range of inclusive illustrations accompanied by a series of positive affirmations carefully chosen to instill a positive foundation of self-belief in children. They are an excellent motivational tool and seek to teach the younger generation the importance of character above appearances.
The My Feelings Matter series brings together a collection of emotion-based scenarios that serve as an aid to kickstart conversations with young children about their feelings. They are designed to help parents and caregivers understand what children are feeling and may be used in various settings, from icebreakers to therapeutic sessions.
Behind these vibrant cards and Shine Your Light is an inspiring family team, founders Caroline McLain, her daughter Madilyn McLain, and her mother Micheline Etkin. Recognizing the challenges of growing up in a world that does not always treat children kindly, they decided to combine their skills to create these inspiring products to empower children worldwide.
“At the best of times, the world can be a hectic place for us adults, so you can imagine how it might seem more intense for children,” said Caroline. “It is becoming increasingly important for us to teach children to find moments of stillness, where they can reflect and enjoy the simple things in life.”
