In this series we’ll tell you about the top 3 new things we’re loving in AZ. Follow along this summer for new restaurants, recipes, experiences and other things you’re sure to love.

New Restaurant

Gabriella’s Contemporary American Cuisine is a new restaurant in Scottsdale that has a unique menu of southern meets contemporary with a vast variety of tasty options. Is is owned and run by a lovely family who named the restaurant after their daughter.

We recommend the wedge salad, any of the flatbreads, the braised short ribs and the salmon, which has the most delicious citrus miso glaze. We will definitely be back this summer to try all of the cocktails, the brunch menu, and the lobster roll.

New Recipes

One of our favorite treats we love in the summer that also helps us stay cool on these hot (way too hot) days, is using frozen fruit in unexpected ways.

  1. Frozen grapes are the perfect poolside treat. We first tried these at the Westin Kierland Pool Café. They are really delicious and couldn’t be easier to make. Pull the grapes from the stems, rinse and freeze. Eat the same day or the next day because after too long in the freezer they become solid rocks.

  2. Frozen Watermelon can be used to make a variety of boozy and virgin slushies. We really like using a can of sparkling water as our liquid in the blender. Fresh lime or mint adds something special to the treat. Read more about our watermelon treats here.

  3. Frozen pineapple is great to make the Disney version of the Dole Whip at home. This recipe tastes just like you are in the parks.

New Activity

One of our favorite activities in the summer is trying a new AZ resort. With resort pass you can visit your favorite resort for the day with no worries about packing for an overnight or leaving your house and/or pets unattended all night.

Your kids will love the pool and water attractions. You will love the poolside service. It is a win-win for the whole family. We pick one or two new resorts to visit each year and try to visit our favorites every couple of years. It is like a mini-vacation without all of the extra work.
