Looking for a fun activity for your kids that builds confidence, encourages teamwork, and supports communication skills? My eight-year old daughter was so excited to have the opportunity to take acting lessons at Dearing Acting Studio for a month and they didn’t disappoint!

About the Studio

From the beautiful studio to the professional atmosphere and the wonderful coaches, my daughter has been enamored with the acting lessons. It is apparent that this studio is a labor of love for its owners, Matt and Leeann Dearing. Not only are they both renowned actors, but they are also parents of two adorable kiddos themselves. They are always around the studio and are warm and welcoming to the students and families. Leann is also part of the amazing local comedy duo, Leeaan & Michelle. If you haven’t seen their parody videos yet and need a good laugh, check them out!

The studio was founded in 2007 and has grown from providing classes in a doctor’s office lobby to its current location in the “Sheaborhood,” where it houses a beautiful theater, lobby and classroom. Studio offerings include acting lessons for kids, teens and adults, movie camps, workshops, private coaching, corporate training, public speaking, and professional local casting.

The Acting Classes

My daughter took part in the youth acting class (for ages 5-11) for a month, which cover scene study, film/tv, commercial, and improv. She absolutely loved the classes! She even asked me if there was an option to come to classes every day! We decided to sign her up for ongoing lessons because they are so valuable. After two months, she still loves them!

Lessons are fun and fast-paced and consist of improv games, on-camera practice and a lot of laughter. I have seen my daughter’s focus, confidence, and acting skills grow immensely within the course of a few months and I’d highly recommend these classes to anyone with kids or teens! An adult improv class might even on my bucket list. 😉
