Where to find fall colors in Arizona

I have always wanted to take a drive up the east coast to see all of the amazing fall colors! It’s on my bucket list. One day, I have dreams of my mom, daughters, and I driving from bed and breakfast to antique shops, while yellow, orange and red leaves line our paths. But for now, here are a few places to find those beautiful colors right here in Arizona! I love that this state offers so many varieties of landscapes and seasons. I hope I never take that for granted!

The Flagstaff and surrounding areas offer a wonderful variety of fall colors from late September to mid October. You can see the red, orange and yellow leaves your heart longs for! You can keep up with all the details for best viewing spots and kinds of colors you can expect to see here

Boyce Thompson Arboretum

If you are hoping for something a little later in the season, Boyce Thompson Arboretum is your spot! About an hour drive, East of Phoenix off highway 60, Boyce Thompson Arboretum is known for their Fall Foliage Finale on Thanksgiving weekend. With a small admission, you can walk the trails all day and enjoy the Arizona landscape.

Rumor has it that the closest thing Arizona has to a New England display of fall foliage, is the West Fork Trail. This is an easy to moderate hike that is roughly 6 mile round trip.

A few years ago, my family and I drove up to Payson for fall break. We just did a day trip and it was breathtaking! Golden leaves were everywhere I turned. It is only about a hour and a half drive. There are plenty of places to eat and parks to stretch your legs at. The views at Woods Canyon Lake were amazing. I’m hoping to get up there very soon before I miss it!
