RPM Spin {Giveaway}

IMG_5531 with logoI received a free class from RPM Spin in exchange for this post, but all opinions expressed are my own.

Did you know there is an amazing spin studio in North Scottsdale? RPM Spin is conveniently located in Greyhawk, right around the corner from Chipotle and Cold Beer and Cheeseburgers. For years, I’ve been visiting the same complex to stuff my face with burgers and burrito bowls (embarrassing, but true) and had no idea I could get a killer workout there as well.

A local couple owns the studio, which is solely dedicated to spinning and features some pretty awesome lighting effects.  I recently had the opportunity to try a class and loved what I found. The owner, Rachel, didn’t hesitate to walk around, introduce herself and help newbies like me with things like selecting the correct size of shoe (clip-in bike shoes can be rented for $3), adjusting your bike and using the monitor. The class I attended had several other first-timers as well, which made me feel comfortable and in good company.

Once things got rolling, the instructor cranked up the music and turned down the lights. The music was a great mix of recent pop and dance music, which made me feel like I was riding away in a nightclub rather than a gym. Since I frequent the Children’s Museum more than the clubs these days, it was a great change of pace from my everyday activities. The studio is filled with black lights and the accent lights on the walls changed with the tunes. RPM Spin is unique because after each song is over, participants recover in the dark.  Initially riding a stationary bike in the dark felt a little strange, but I actually ended up finding it very relaxing. Plus no one around me could tell I was dripping with sweat. The instructor was easy to follow and I found the hour-long class went by quickly. I burned over 400 calories and left with a head full of workout endorphins.

While childcare isn’t available, RPM offers multiple class times (click here for the schedule). There is an early morning class, a 9:30 am class (perfect for moms after camp or school drop-off), as well as a 5:45 pm class, which is the one I attended. After my hubby got home from work, I happily handed over the kids and gave myself an hour to focus on me, which most moms don’t do often enough. All first-time riders get their first class free so you have nothing to lose by giving RPM a try. All you have to do is sign-up online here to reserve your spot.20160626_145853_resized

  1. Have never tried a spin class (let alone, been in a gym!) Would love to try it out- that looks so much fun! and lose some pregnancy weight!

  2. I love spin because it helps me quiet my monkey mind. I had a rough time after my second baby was born last summer because she was diagnosed with a rare disorder. I found that spin was more like my type of “yoga” and it helped me get rid of the negative thoughts!! I love it and the instructors are so positive and helpful!!

  3. I used to spin all the time before I had children, but have had a hard time getting back “in the saddle”. I’ve heard great things about RPM and would love to try it!

  4. Two years ago I began a competition for Miss Arizona USA I worked really hard was on a strict diet and pretty strict exercise regimen to ensure that I lost weight that was needed. through the process I lost 20 pounds. After getting 7th place in the competition I gained all of my weight back and then some I started to get back on my elliptical several months ago to try and lose weight but for some reason I just was not into it and I could not really focus and work as hard as I was before. I Googled spin classes around my area and RPM spin was one that was within the locations near me. my first class was outstanding when I walked in someone greeted me and walk me through the process on the bike and what will happen during the class and what we’re going to do during the class. After that class, i knew i caught the bug.. spin is so much fun. I would go absolutely everyday and 3 times a day if money was no issue and i didnt have a job. If you havent tried, just do it.#likenike Believe me, you will not regret it !!!
