Four Seasons Giveaway and Getaway Review

My family and I recently had the opportunity to stay at the Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North. With a toddler in tow, I really wanted to write this review in a way that gives local mamas an idea of what you get when you are lucky enough to book a stay. I think it is a fantastic option for a weekend getaway for you and your family!

So, first things first… the  things you wouldn’t notice about a hotel until you have kids:
  • The children’s pool. It was a foot deep, and my toddler LOST HER MIND when she was able to walk and play in it. She could have stayed in there forever. Also—it’s all in the details—they had MINI LOUNGERS. Can you stand the cuteness? I really wanted a photo of Evelyn on one, but she was incredibly unhappy every time she had to get out of the pool, so that photo never happened. Sad face. Don’t worry, they also have a big pool for the older kids, and an adults-only whirlpool if you have a sitter.

  • A family friendly room. They provided a full-size crib that was easy enough to move around the room, but comfortable enough for our toddler to sleep all night. The bathroom had a tub with an adjustable shower head – great for rinsing off kids after pool time. And they took the time to baby proof around the edges of the night stands. My toddler is tiny and couldn’t have bumped her head if she tried, but I definitely appreciated the sentiment! Within a few minutes of being there, Evelyn had learned how to climb up on the fireplace and hide in the cubby in the closet—she loved it.

We were also able to check out a few other amenities while we were there:
  • Movies in the pool. On Saturday nights in the summer they put out a huge screen, and you’re able to swim with the kids and watch a flick. They have a trunk full of pool noodles to grab, and I smelled popcorn cooking (even though my toddler didn’t make it through most of the movie). We were there on the very random (very rare) weekend where it was actually chilly (yep, in AZ, in the summer). The pool was still the perfect temperature and we all thoroughly enjoyed watching the movie while the sun was setting in the background.

  • Proof Restaurant: The website describes it as an “American canteen.” They had a great variety of options, and the kid’s meal was a great amount of food! There were a few other kids in the restaurant, so I wasn’t nervous about it being too fancy to bring a toddler to. In fact, one of the kids spilled a full cup of juice next to us and the staff was so understanding that I felt immediately at ease. We tried the steak salad and lobster roll, and Baby Girl had mac n cheese, veggies, and fruit. For dessert—an amazing shake (caramel, brownies, heaven).

  • Breakfast in-suite. Proof also provided our breakfast. We called and ordered, and it was delivered within half an hour. Since the weather was beautiful (again, odd and rare for an AZ summer) we had them set up our breakfast on the patio. We had the egg white omelet, the breakfast burrito, and the biggest bowl of Cheerios you’ve ever seen! So yummy that my toddler stayed still throughout the entire breakfast!

Taking your kids on vacation really makes you notice things you may have missed before. All in all, the staff and amenities at Four Seasons were extremely family-friendly (something you may not always get at a “fancy” getaway), and were incredibly welcoming. My family and I had a great trip—and now it’s time for you to do the same!

  1. I would like to win the give-away for a few reasons. My husband and I both work crazy hours and travel with our jobs. We have 3 beautiful children as well. Winning this Staycation would give us a chance to reconnect as a family and a couple. We’ve never done a Staycation although we’ve lived in AZ for 8 years! Taking time with each other to be together and put the cares of the world behind us for a few days sounds ah-mazing! Thank you for the review of the four season’s.   3. What a fun weekend getaway!! I too had no idea how kid friendly this resort is and it sounds like heaven!!!!! I’m due at the end of July with our second little boy and I could think of no other perfect staycation for a little getaway and relaxation time!!! We have only lived here for 2 years and would love be able to take a new adventure and discover this amazing resort!

  10. My husband and I got married at The Four Season’s over five years ago. We have always said we want to go back at some point for a vacation but we have been busy with work and our 5 month old daughter. It is such a beautiful resort and I would love to spend a few days just relaxing.

He has been great at working and being single dad while I work and dealing with nuances of in-laws (on a minute/hour/daily basis). She can’t afford to come visit me here in Arizona due the cost and even though I offered to treat her she didn’t feel she could say “yes.” She is an OB nurse and loves on others through her skills/talents and did come help me for a week after I had twins six years ago.   57. Oh ladies, what a treat that would be! My husband and I just recently bought a house so an out of town vacation is out of the question. Usually for Father’s Day and for our anniversary we do a staycation. What a way to spend 4 years together and to bring our son (maybe) to spend a day or two enjoying the amazing ammenities. Not to mention what a wonderful idea before heading back to work in August.

    Side note – sounds like someone with kids of their own is in charge of making families comfortable there! Baby proofing table edges?! And look at that toddler tray of dinner! That is definitely the work of someone who knows toddlers 🙂 Stoked to see that someone there really cares and puts in that extra thought and effort!

  62. WOW!!! I had NO IDEA some of the local resorts were so kid-friendly! We’ve taken 2 kid-friendly staycations since our 2yo was born, but I’d love to include her. She would FLIP OUT over the kiddie pool–and that super-yummy-looking mac-and-cheese. 🙂 I love that they babyproofed the room…it’s the little things, right?

I would love to win this staycation for several reasons: Both my partner and I work full time and he is currently also in school studying and will be testing for the Phoenix Fire department. My children are away for 10 weeks over the summer with their dad in CA. My oldest son (turning 11!) and I both have birthdays in August. An opportunity to get “away” to reconnect as a family, decompress and celebrate birthdays and a new career would be SO wonderful!
