Working Mom’s Wardrobe

When my son was born two years ago, I went back to work after a three-month maternity leave. I work at a school where the staff dress code is business casual, but I was growing tired of black and khaki pants. I also found myself not being able to tolerate heels after growing a baby for nine months and then toting that baby around as he grew bigger and bigger. I needed a wardrobe that was baby-friendly, and now toddler-friendly, while still showing up to work each day not looking like I’ve already been put through the ringer (which is truly the case some mornings!).

My husband recently went back to school full-time, and I don’t make millions working at a school. Therefore, my updated, mom-friendly wardrobe had to come at a budget. I find new pieces in many different places: online sales, consignment shops, Goodwill, Instagram sales, clothing swaps, and more.

Check out my working mom’s wardrobe for the week:

It’s Monday, so I need a boost start for the week! Colorful pants and fun sandals usually do the trick.

On Tuesday, I pull out my favorite white pants (which I believe you can wear all year long in a place like Arizona).

On Wednesday, I am halfway through the week. I pull out a skirt to spruce it up a bit.

It’s Friday! I put on a fun dress to celebrate.

Cardigan: Loft (found on eBay!)
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Stella & Dot (bought with credit for hosting a party!)

And with everything I wear, it has to be toting-around-a-toddler-friendly. We run a lot of our errands after work, so I slip off my cardigan, change into flats, and we are good to go for a quick trip to Target or the grocery store.
