Welcome to Octopus Hideout, the newest exhibit at Sea Life Arizona! It just opened this week and the new tanks are sure to thrill your kiddos.
Do you know what a Cuttlefish is? How about a Chambered Nautilus or Peacock Mantis Shrimp? I don’t know about you, but my son Luke is absolutely obsessed with sea creatures, and these new additions in Octopus Hideout gave him tons of sea life to check out. You name it, he wants to know about it. He wants to see every tank in the aquarium, study every animals and find out every detail, before pointing them out to you on every return.
I took both my boys (3.5 and 10 months) to check out Octopus Hideout for it’s grand opening and not only had spectacular views of the Giant Pacific Octopus in her new tank, but we learned she has three hearts, blue blood and her name is Loki. Although she is not new to the aquarium, her tank gives her so much more space and you can appreciate her beauty as she glides around her new environment.
This was not our first time around the aquarium; we head over about once a month and never get tired of it. The baby loves all the bright colors, the soothing music playing in the background, and of course, standing at the tanks to see inside. My older guy picks up a Dive Log Book at the entrance and sports a paper dive mask as he goes to the eight different stations for a stamp inside–think scavenger hunt fun! We like the touch tanks, stingrays at feeding time, watching a mini movie in the theater, and of course, at the end, hanging out in the play area to get the wiggles out before we head home.
