7 bd hacks

School has started and fall is in the air. For me, this means harvest time and my daughter’s birthday. Nothing makes me more excited than planning for her birthday. Her birthday parties have ranged from a princess party to a unicorn party. Yes, I have gone over the top a couple times and it was fun, but over these past couple years I have found some creative Birthday Party Hacks that have made my life easier and have kept my parties inexpensive.

Behold my list of Birthday Party Hacks where expensive looking parties become attainable super-easy shin-digs. Let’s get the party started!

DIY Printable’s

Matching signs, invitations and favor tags can all be printed at home on your own printer in minutes. There are so many printable party options on Etsy. Just enter your party theme and you can search through different printable collections, buy them, and get printing. Once printed you can cut and craft out signage and decorations, which will add a matching flair.

Cake/Cupcake Toppers

Make your own cake or buy a store bought cake and spend your money on the toppers. You can find bakeries that will do a fondant cake topper for you and either ship it to you or you can pick it up at your local bakery. This is a great option if you have a child who is allergic to certain ingredients and you are the baker. I have found amazing artists on Etsy and with my friends who are starting up their baking business. You can also find adorable printable cupcake toppers that you can add to your confections.

DIY Favors

Once again, if you want to save money,  you are going to have to start crafting! If you research online your birthday themes or colors you will find very inexpensive favor options. You can take store bought candies and wrap with printable stickers that you print off at home and there you have custom candies for favors.

Use lots of flowers for decoration

A great way to add color and decorate the tables are by using fresh flowers! I am a huge fan of getting inexpensive flowers and all sorts of containers as vases and spread the bloom! If you have a container you are wanting to use for your flowers that is not meant for flowers, simply buy wet foam blocks at your local craft store and use with your flowers. Endless possibilities.

Play with your food

You don’t haves to use expensive catering to feed your pint-sized guests. Just use fresh ingredients and play! You can cut out mini-sandwiches with cookie cutters or make a rainbow with your veggies/fruit. It’s all about making it easy and fun. DIY taco, hot dog or salad bar is always a great option too!

Make paper plants fancy

Yes, that’s right.  Pretend you are fancy with your paper plates. Why not? You can still set the table in disposables and make it fun!

Backdrops are your friends

I love backdrops. You can use them behind your table-scape or as a photo booth. Endless possibilities. You can go crazy and shred fabric into strips and hang from a cord like I did or use a simple bed linen and hang from your wall or tree. Backdrops are an easy addition that add tons of color!
