At SMB we want to bring you information and inspiration from around the Valley and beyond. Here are some clickworthy links from around the web this week. Enjoy!

I got to meet Raising Arizona Kids founder and editor Karen Davis Barr at our AWESOME Mom’s Night Out event this week and am loving her Behind the ‘Zine blog. Here’s a great two-part post that asks the question “Who is your parenting guru?” (Part 1 :: Part 2). One of my faves – Dr. Laura Markham – is on there (and another, Jane Nelson, is missing), and I got to learn about several more to check out as well!

Are you up to speed on the much-buzzed-about Breast Milk Baby doll? You can count me on the side of those who don’t have a problem with the idea in theory, but who also don’t see the point in spending $80 on a plastic made-in-China toy to spark imaginative play when little ones everywhere have been lifting their shirts and “nursing” dolls and stuffed animals since the beginning of time. Anyway. The blogosphere is abuzz nonetheless and I thought this was just one of many thought-provoking perspectives, courtesy of The Huffington Post.

Thanks to SMB co-founder Steph for finding this list of Summertime tips on a variety of topics in this post from MomLife Today…and thanks to her partner-in-crime Joy for stumbling across this. Just. Awesome.

A few weeks ago I included a Clickworthy link to a sweet post about one blogger’s kids creating a playhouse from a cardboard box. If that isn’t your style, maybe these playhousesranging from $30,000 to over $200,000 – are? OMG!!!!!

This looks yummy. And easy. And cheap. And made with things I almost always have on hand. I think that makes it a win-win-win-WIN!

Isn’t it refreshing when someone who seems to have it all together can admit to being in a funk? That’s just what blogger Meagan Francis of The Happiest Mom did – and then gave some great tips for getting out of what she calls a “mom funk.”

Sarah Powers is a writer and Scottsdale mom of two. She came to the valley from Southern California by way of Chicago and would take Arizona summers over Midwest winters any day. A perfect day for Sarah starts with coffee, ends with chardonnay and includes lots of baby giggles and sticky-fingered kid kisses in between. She loves high ponytails, showtunes and using her kids as an excuse to stay in and go to bed early, which she would do anyway. Sarah often tweets and sometimes blogs about the messy, tender, fun, funny and irreverent moments of parenthood.
