Juniper Well Ranch – Phoenix Family Weekend Away

2

In a hidden spot two hours outside of Phoenix, we found the cutest place to take the family for a weekend away. It has a little something for the kids, a little something for the adults, and lots of rustic charm. It is called Juniper Well Ranch. This place is tucked down a long dirt road outside of Prescott. It is worth the drive if you get a chance to check it out.

They have a beautiful property with four cabins available for guests. Each has a full kitchen so you can bring food to prepare your own meals, which I think is so much more convenient when traveling with small children rather than staying in a hotel. We chose the largest of the four cabins, the Ranch House Cabin because, let’s be honest, with three kids (one being two), we need all the room we can get. I was very happy that I was able to reserve this cabin; it was perfect for us, especially because the Ranch House has a porch swing. We—I mean the kids, really—spent most of their time swinging. We did get a chance to tour the other cabins while we were there and they were very cozy. If I didn’t have three crazy kids, we would be happy staying in any one of them.

This place really is a gorgeous working ranch and winery (I told you there was a little something for the adults). Just check out their website—I was totally sold on the pictures alone. There are no TVs and no cell phone service up at the Ranch. When we first arrived, one of my kids pretended the microwave was turned to the Disney channel, but that was only for a minute. After that, no one missed the TVs, the phones, or the computers (well, of course I missed it all a little, but I wasn’t going to tell the kids that). It was so nice to get away for a weekend to peace and quiet. No electronics or hustle and bustle. The kids played board games and puzzles. They ran around pretending to be cowgirls. They got to feed the chickens and donkeys. We sat by the bonfire. We ate hotdogs and smores. It really was a fun weekend in the woods, and for us this is about as close to camping as we are going to get with our girly girls (you should have seen them when they saw a bug!).

Juniper Well Ranch is also pet friendly, so our dog Eddie got to go on vacation with us. It is a nice option to be able to bring your dog with you to enjoy the trip too and not be left at home missing out on the family fun.

Linda and Dave Bonham, the lovely couple who own Juniper Well Ranch, were so nice to offer Scottsdale Moms Blog readers $50 off any two-night stay at the Ranch. Just mention this article when booking the reservation—thanks so much Linda and Dave!
