GIVEAWAY | Severson Sisters Summer Creative Arts Girls Club

4

Did you know that girls are bullied more than boys? The way girls bully (prank calling, spreading rumors, teasing and cyber-bullying) is different than boys. And, the majority of bullying happens during middle school.

In regards to bullying, I love what Carrie Severson, founder of the Severson Sisters has to say about that – Bullying is for the birds!!

Not only is she speaking out against bullying amongst young girls but she’s doing something about it here in the Phoenix area!!  (I love it when people step up and actually DO SOMETHING!)

Severson Sisters is a new organization in the Valley that hopes to give girls the support and encouragement needed put an end to bullying. To help do this they have created a program, called Connections, for middle school girls that uses creative arts as a way to help girls embrace the super girl within themselves.

Severson Sisters is currently enrolling for the Connections program (for girls ages 10-14) which launches the week of June 6, 2011, with different creative arts each week. Think Dance, Zumba, Art, Storytelling and Food.  Um…can I sign up?!  😉 Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Halle Heart Children’s Museum. The cost for a week is $50.

And the great news? Severson Sisters has partnered with Scottsdale Moms Blog to give  one of EIGHT (yes – you read that right!) lucky readers a Week Enrollment to your choice of their Connections Summer Creative Arts programs. (value of $50/each)

Like all of our giveaways, you have to do a little something…

  1. My daughter who is dyslexic, brought home a 4.0 report card. She plays sports ( has done volleyball, track and will take up pom/cheer over the summer). She had been a big sister to a younger girl starting in when the girl was kindergarten. She did this for 3 years and her little “sister” loved her. She was selected to be a junior counselor at B & G club.

She played viola and then had to abrubtly switch to cello when some little boys playing ran into her, knocking her down and dislocating her jaw. She be came very good cello play given the short time she had to learn it.

She is a sweet kid and would benefit from this program.

I am an older Mom (I had her at 42. I divorced her father in 2002). I am on disability and although we have a decent life Ican not afford all the gadgets her friends have.. My daughter never comes complains about not having all the gadgets and knicknacks some of her friends have. She has friends who live in multmillion dollars houses and she has attended birthday parties and other events, but her ego is strong enough that she is not intimidated or feels inferior because they have more possessions.

I think this would be a fun event for her to attend. So I’m entering for my daughter Syeda.

  2. My 11 year old Jessica is an awesome little lady! She has been an only child for 10 years and has adjusted beautifully to the addition of her baby sister Skylar to our family. She is my HUGE, little helper. We are now adding her brother Braden in July and we are all so excited to be welcoming a little boy into our family. Jessica has helped me keep my sanity through some of the tough days of mommyhood. =)

  3. I have 4 “supergirl” daughters, but only one fits in this age category. This would be an amazing opportunity for her since she enjoys being creative so much. She’s often organizing the four girls in some creative activity. Her birthday is in June as well – what a great birthday gift for her!!
