Sea Life Arizona

This past week, my children and I ventured out to the Sea Life Arizona Aquarium. I don’t know about you, but my kids are fascinated by animals and how uniquely each one is created.  They loved every moment of the morning.  The aquarium features neat things like a shark tunnel, touch pools and talk and feed times.  I also loved how they allowed the children different vantage points to experience the different tanks.  In one room, they could climb upstairs to view sharks swimming below them.  Then in the next, crawl up into a bubble that made them feel like they were swimming with a school of fish.  They definitely created this aquarium with children in mind.

Located at Arizona Mills, it is obviously not going to be the same size or variety as the aquariums in Monterrey or Sea World.  However, it does contain over 5, 000 animals.  On St. Patrick’s Day, their new exhibit, Claws, opened.  This featured a favorite of all of my children, the Japanese Spider Crabs.  The are enormous crabs that can grow to a 12 foot claw span. Another favorite was a small tank filled with seahorses.  My kids talked for days about how delicate and endearing they were.  I loved that the size of an animal wasn’t the only reason their attention was captivated.

Sea Life Arizona offers group and school tours as well as birthday parties. As the warm summer months approach, I think this indoor spot would be a great option for a fun and educational outing.
