New Mom in Scottsdale

We are always hearing about families who move into Scottsdale from, well EVERYWHERE!  Meet Kelly!  She just moved here and is sharing some of her favorite things to do with her son (age 2) since moving to town:

My husband, son and I came to Scottsdale from South Florida in September 2010 for a wedding… and never left!  For real!

At the time of the wedding, my husband was looking for new employment so I suggested that he look in Arizona.  It was a true blessing that a recruiter matched him up with a great employer that needed him to start right away.  The move was so sudden that I expect to wake up any second!  I am no stranger to this town, having graduated from Arizona State way back in the 90’s.  My husband and I relocated for work in 2001, however we came back for a visit at least one time every year. I loved Florida while I was there, but always looked forward to my visits ‘back home’ to AZ. Now we live here with our beautiful 2 year old son, Dylan, and are so thrilled that he has the opportunity to grow up in the area and meet new friends!

Even though I have lived in Scottsdale in the past, it is a much different experience as the mom of a 2 year old!  Instead of hitting up the college spots and turn-around trips to Sedona, we spend most of our time at the Train Park and Ice Den!  I am so very impressed with what Scottsdale has to offer families.  Parent’s Magazine actually ranked Scottsdale as the “Best Cities for Babies” in 2010!  One of our favorite things to do is go to one of the many libraries in the area.  The Scottsdale Library System offers free story time and other programs  for toddlers almost every day of the week at various locations.  Now that the weather is gorgeous, we love to hang out at outdoor malls like Desert Ridge or go to one of the many parks in the area.  We are also taking advantage of this cooler weather by going on beautiful hikes.

Even though Dylan is almost 40 pounds, I still carry my little guy in a Becco Front Carrier and he loves it!  Once the weather heats up again, I am sure you will find us watching hockey and playing games at the Ice Den.  An additional ‘perk’ of going to the Ice Den as of this month is that Divalicious moved their clothing boutique right inside!  They have awesome clothes for reasonable prices.  We also look forward to going to a free trial music class at ‘Harmony Hub’ directed by Scottsdale Mom, Sara, who also has a 2-year-old son named Dylan!  You can sign up for free class at https://www.harmonyhubkids.com/

Dylan and I love to stay active and meet new people!  We look forward to meeting other families who share our interests!
